East Texas
Wood County runs from Mineola northeast to Winnsboro and over to Hawkins on the Lake Fork side, mostly rural with some growth around the towns and plenty of rolling pasture and post-oak timber. We do a lot of clearing, ranch-road rock, culvert sets, and erosion work here, the terrain rolls and the soil moves faster than the Blackland counties west.

Mostly sandy loam over sandy clay, with Bowie-series soils on the rolling ground and steeper grades than the western counties. It erodes fast on bare slopes during a heavy rain, so erosion control matters more here than almost anywhere we work.
