That's most of our work. We're out on farms, ranches, and rural acreage throughout Rockwall, Kaufman, Hunt, Van Zandt, Henderson, and Smith counties every week. Long driveways, remote access, heavy clay, it's normal for us.

For most jobs within our regular East Texas service area, no added travel charge. Very remote sites, say, an hour or more from our base, may include a mobilization fee. We'll tell you clearly in the estimate if that applies.

Most residential jobs around here, foundations, stock ponds, utility trenches, run 1–3 days. East Texas clay adds time compared to lighter soils in other parts of Texas, but we factor that in. Larger jobs run 4–7 days.

It depends on what you're digging and your county. Residential work in most rural East Texas counties doesn't require a permit, but anything near utilities or over certain depths can. We always call 811 before we dig, no exceptions.

Pond excavation is one of the most common things we do out in Henderson, Van Zandt, and Rains counties. We grade the bowl to hold water, compact the banks, and advise on depth for your acreage and rainfall. Call us, we've done hundreds of these.

East Texas has four common soil types: Houston Black clay in Rockwall and western Kaufman, sandy loam in Henderson and Smith counties, Bonham clay and caliche pockets across Van Zandt, and sandy clay along the Trinity bottom. Each one digs, drains, and holds water differently, so it changes how every dirtwork job is priced. Clay holds water and seals a pond naturally; sand drains fast but needs a liner to hold one. We read the soil on site before we quote, because a bid that ignores it gets amended in the field.

Demucking is digging out soft, wet, organic muck soil that can't support a foundation, slab, or pad, then replacing it with compacted structural fill. You need it when a site has buried topsoil, an old pond bottom, or saturated clay that would let a build settle and crack. We find the unsuitable material during the site walk, over-excavate to stable ground, and backfill in compacted lifts so what gets built on top stays put. It's common on low spots and former stock-pond sites.

In most rural East Texas counties, no permit is needed to clear your own property. Some cities and HOAs around Forney and Rockwall have tree ordinances. We'll flag anything we know about in your area.

Standing water that won't drain after rain, soggy yards for days after a storm, driveways that wash out or flood, and water getting too close to foundations. It all comes back to East Texas clay and poor original grading. We fix all of it.

Yes. We source screened topsoil, deliver it to your East Texas property, and spread it to the depth you need. Works great for new lawn installs, raised garden beds, and filling low spots that hold water.

For most East Texas driveways, crushed limestone over a compacted road base holds best and looks cleanest. Caliche is the value pick for long ranch roads on clay because it binds hard when compacted. The right choice depends on your soil, the driveway's length, and how much traffic it carries. Whatever the surface, the base under it is what makes a driveway last, rock dumped on bare dirt ruts the first wet season. We measure the exact tonnage and read the soil before we quote.

Silt fencing (properly installed, not just staked in), erosion blankets, rip-rap rock placement, slope regrading, and seeding. We recommend what fits your site's actual conditions and your budget.

That's a slope erosion problem we see a lot in East Texas after land clearing or grading work. We'll regrade the slope to reduce velocity, install rip-rap or erosion matting at the base, and redirect runoff so it drains properly instead of sheeting down the hill.
