- Q01What types of rock do you work with in East Texas?
- Crushed limestone, caliche, pea gravel, river rock, rip-rap, and road base are the common ones out here. Each has a different purpose. Not sure which you need? We'll tell you at the estimate, free of charge.
- Q02How many loads do I need for a typical driveway?
- A standard 12-foot-wide, 100-foot-long driveway at 4 inches deep needs about 15–20 cubic yards, roughly 1 to 2 truck loads. We calculate this for your exact dimensions before we ever quote a price.
- Q03Do you spread and grade the rock after you deliver it?
- Yes, and you should ask any rock hauler in Kaufman or Hunt County if they do this, because depth consistency is everything for driveway longevity. We spread and grade to spec so you get an even surface.
- Q04Can you source the rock or do I need to arrange that myself?
- We handle it. We've got supplier relationships across East Texas and include material cost in your quote so there's one number and one point of contact.
- Q05How much does a load of gravel or road base cost?
- Rock is priced by the tonnage, the material, and the haul distance, plus spreading and compaction if the surface needs it. Crushed limestone and road base price differently than river rock or rip-rap. We calculate the tonnage for your exact dimensions and give one firm number that includes the material.
- Q06What is road base and what is it used for?
- Road base is a graded crushed aggregate that compacts into a hard, stable layer. It goes under driveways, parking areas, and building pads as the foundation the surface sits on. Skip the base and surface rock ruts into the dirt the first wet season, which is why we build it in first.
- Q07How much rock do I need for my project?
- It depends on the area and the depth you want. A driveway at four inches deep needs roughly one ton of rock for every eight to ten square yards of surface, more over soft ground that needs a base. We measure your dimensions and calculate the exact tonnage before we quote.
- Q08Do you deliver and spread rock for pads, parking areas, and rip-rap?
- Yes, beyond driveways we haul and place road base for building pads and parking areas, structural fill, and rip-rap at culvert outlets and on eroding slopes. We spread and compact to the depth your application needs rather than dumping a pile at the gate.
